Memorial of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Religious
Lectionary: 207

Reading 11 JN 3:7-10

Children, let no one deceive you.
The person who acts in righteousness is righteous,
just as he is righteous.
Whoever sins belongs to the Devil,
because the Devil has sinned from the beginning.
Indeed, the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the Devil.
No one who is begotten by God commits sin,
because God’s seed remains in him;
he cannot sin because he is begotten by God.
In this way,
the children of God and the children of the Devil are made plain;
no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God,
nor anyone who does not love his brother.

Responsorial PsalmPS 98:1, 7-8, 9

R. (3cd) All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.
R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Let the sea and what fills it resound,
the world and those who dwell in it;
Let the rivers clap their hands,
the mountains shout with them for joy before the LORD.
R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
The LORD comes;
he comes to rule the earth;
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with equity.
R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.

AlleluiaHEB 1:1-2

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets:
in these last days, he has spoken to us through the Son.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

GospelJN 1:35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher),
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah,” which is translated Christ.
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas,” which is translated Peter.

Consecration to Mary, Defeater of Satan

What's the most effective way to destroy the works of the devil? Jesus has already conquered him for us. Now it's up to us to choose to live in Christ. Every moment. Every day.

The most effective way to have a happy new year is to make a point of living in the blessings of Christ. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When we do the opposite of what the devil wants us to do (temptations), following the Way of Christ, the devil's works are destroyed. When we study to learn the Truth and separate ourselves from the lies of the world (about what is sinful and what is not), the devil's works are destroyed. When we worship Christ as our Savior and receive his body and blood in the Eucharist, we are filled with the eternal life of heaven and the devil's works are destroyed.

Let's consecrate this new year and this new decade to Jesus through Mary. While we're at it, let's further destroy the works of the devil by also consecrating those who need to be rescued from the devil's works. Let's consecrate the world to Jesus through Mary.

This Consecration to Mary is a demon-conquering adaptation of the Hail Mary. Use rosary beads while meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the Fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Defeater of Satan,
Crushing the head of the serpent beneath your heel,
Ark of the Covenant leading us to victory in battle,
I consecrate to you _______ [see below].
Bring Christ to him/her/them and bring him/her/them to Christ.
Place him/her/them under the effects of the Precious Blood of your Son Jesus.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our deaths.
  • First decade:
    I consecrate to you my spiritual growth and the spiritual health of my family and friends [you can name people specifically here].

  • Second decade:
    I consecrate to you my parish, my priest(s), all who serve, all those who attend Mass and all those who need your help answering the call.

  • Third decade:
    I consecrate to you the whole Church: the pope, all who work at the Vatican, all bishops, all priests, all consecrated religious, and all laity.

  • Fourth decade:I consecrate to you the sick and suffering; the jobless and the homeless and all those who have sought my prayers and whom I have promised to pray for.

  • Fifth decade:
    I consecrate to you all the world leaders, religious leaders and politicians around the world. May there be unity, integrity and harmony among all nations in the world.

God Bless You.....
    Rosary Family
    The mother of Jesus promised St. Dominic that, “one day through the rosary & the scapular I shall save the world!”
